Ohio State University Holmes County Extension has several programs on the schedule as spring nears.

Let’s Do Brunch

Whether it’s a lazy Saturday morning with your beau or a get-together with your besties, brunch brings together the best of breakfast and lunch. Join me, an OSU Extension educator, at the Holmes County Public Library on Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m. as I prepare a few brunch recipes. Call the library at 330-674-5972 to register for the program.

Cooking with Kate
Spring 2024

Do you ever look at recipes in magazines or online and wonder if it tastes as good as it looks? Do you get invited to parties and think, “What can I bring?” Do you dread the thought of deciding what to make for dinner … again?

Join me at Cooking with Katefor a fun and tasty time. Watch new recipes being prepared. See helpful kitchen gadgets in action. Gain practical cooking tips and techniques. Best of all, sample all the foods prepared.

What’s on the menu? Honestly, I’m still testing recipes. So far a yummy, fast broccoli stir-fry side dish, pork medallions, no-bake chocolate crunchy squares and a baked fish with seasoned crumb topping have made the list. There are many more recipes to be tested, and the final menu will have one vegetable dish, one main course and one dessert for each day … with maybe a bonus or two. Since we’re heading into spring, I’m leaning toward recipes featuring spring/summer flavors and those that would be great for get-togethers.

This three-week program series will be held at the Love Center’s community room, 1291 Massillon Road (state Route 241), Millersburg, on both Tuesday evening and Wednesday mornings. The program will be the same both times. Program dates/times are Tuesdays, April 2, 9 and 16 from 6-8 p.m. or Wednesdays, April 3, 10 and 17 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The cost is $15 per person for the entire series.

To register for this program, call 330-674-3015, email shumaker.68@osu.edu or stop in the Holmes County OSU Extension at 111 E. Jackson St. in Millersburg. Preregistration and prepayment are requested.
