Weather wasn’t the problem on this trip

Traveling during the winter months can be very iffy. We are concerned about the iffy part since we have to go visit family this month.
This part of our family has just moved to Michigan from the south and needs help settling into her new house. Since we are old hands at moving, we offered to help her, forgetting about driving north in winter. As of right now the weather promises to be snow and ice-free but winter has fooled us more than once.
Years ago, we traveled from the south to Ohio to visit a daughter. The roads were fine until we got into the hilly state of West Virginia. We ran into snow that had been falling for a couple of days. The roads were being plowed but Taller Half got impatient going so slowly through those mountains and decided to pass the plow. I had a hissy fit and insisted we remain where we were safe, behind the road clearer. Taller Half did as I demanded but it made him mad.
By the time we left the mountains and the plow behind us, we were not speaking. Not a bad thing since Taller Half was in a permanent state of frustration and I wasn’t happy with his attitude. We have been married a very long time and have learned when there is tension between us staying quiet is wise. Unfortunately, our wisdom is short-lived and soon we were angrily arguing.
By the time we reached our destination, we were both furious with each other. We always try to keep our disagreements to ourselves but in this case our red faces gave us away. Our daughter just laughed, then fed us a delicious meal. Taller Half is always happy when fed and I am happy when someone else cooks. That good food relaxed us, chased off our anger and we had a lovely visit with our very wise daughter.
