76 Claymont students awarded scholarships

                        

The Claymont Foundation has awarded scholarships to 76 Claymont students and graduates totaling $136,500. These scholarships have been made possible through donations from individuals, organizations and businesses who value education.

Five sophomore students will attend the Buckeye Career Center in the fall and will each receive a $500 Carl McPeak Vocational Memorial Scholarship: Masen Coen, the son of Timmy and Danielle Coen, will study energy operations; Brayden Doane, the son of Travis and Bethany Doane, will study electrical systems technology; Jacob Gerthing, the grandson of Mary Gerthing, will study Energy Operations; Kyle Gingerich, the son of Daniel and Ashley Gingerich, will study welding; and Reanna Grant, the daughter of Michelle and Matt Grant, will study electrical systems technology.

The following Claymont High School Seniors are receiving scholarships:

Marissa Anderegg is the recipient of a $2,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She will study creative writing at Miami University. She is the daughter of Cynthia Anderegg.

Colt Barnhart is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Glenn & Charlotte M. Stilgenbauer Memorial Scholarship. He will study political science at the University of Akron. He is the son of Scott and Kelsi Barnhart.

Allesandra Barrett is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Mary Lou Rice Memorial Scholarship. She will study sports medicine at Wright State University. She is the daughter of Scott Barrett.

Kayla Beckley is the recipient of a $2,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She will study criminal justice at Notre Dame College. She is the daughter of Patrick and Dee Beckley.

Liliana Conn is the recipient of a $1,000 Marie & Hud Hillyer Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 Collin & Shannon Fawcett Scholarship and a $500 Quest Club Scholarship. She will study international studies at Baldwin Wallace University. She is the daughter of Amy Lint-Conn and Chris Conn.

Kyler Cox is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 Clyde “Pog” Ervin Scholarship and a $500 Vickie Lynn Hunt-Barnabi Memorial Scholarship. He will study sports medicine at the Ohio State University. He is the son of Starr Henry and Eric Cox.

Garrett Devore is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship, a $500 Bill Cox Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Paul Fanti Scholarship. He will study criminal justice studies at the University of Akron. He is the son of James and Brandy Devore.

Asia Flynn is the recipient of a $500 Cliff & Erma Reneker Memorial Scholarship and a $2,250 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She will study nursing at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Louise Putnam.

Hannah Heddleston is the recipient of a $2,500 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She will study veterinary technology at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Chad Heddleston and grandson of Tina Hart.

Emma Hicks is the recipient of a $1,000 Dave Adams Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 Pocock Family Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 Marie & Hud Hillyer Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Paul Fanti Scholarship. She will study music business with a concentration in music production at Belmont University in Nashville. She is the daughter of Ryan and Naomi Hicks.

Alyssa Hughes is the recipient of a $1,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 D. Sam & Jean Romig Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Glenn & Charlotte M. Stilgenbauer Memorial Scholarship. She will study criminal justice at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Amanda Hughes.

Michael Lesiecki is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 Larry & Greg Craft Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Bill Cox Memorial Scholarship. He will study business and sports management at Ohio Dominican University. He is the son of Thom and Jane Lesiecki.

Allison Luyster is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship, a $500 Claymont Board of Education Scholarship and a $500 Bill Cox Memorial Scholarship. She will study speech pathology and audiology at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Rick and Jen Luyster.

Morgan McCluskey is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 Collin & Shannon Fawcett Scholarship and a $1,000 Ensign James W Haverfield Memorial Scholarship. She will study exercise science (prephysical therapy track) at Youngstown State University. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Stephanie McCluskey.

Meriah Miles is the recipient of a $1,000 Dave Adams Memorial Scholarship, a $500 Claymont Foundation Scholarship and a $500 Vickie Lynn Hunt-Barnabi Memorial Scholarship. She will study arts management and entrepreneurship and dance movement at Baldwin Wallace University. She is the daughter of Todd and Nicole Miles.

Kaci Mizer is the recipient of a $3,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She will study integrated language arts at Kent State Tuscarawas and Kent State University. She is the son of Mark Mizer and Denise Taylor.

Reagan Norman is the recipient of a $1,000 First Federal Community Bank Scholarship and a $500 Bill Cox Memorial Scholarship. She will study business management at the Ohio State University Newark. She is the daughter of Patrick and Joell Norman.

Bridgett O’Donahue is the recipient of a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Mary Lou Rice Memorial Scholarship. She will study biochemistry premed at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Susan Ronald and Patrick O’Donahue.

Kaleb Parrish is the recipient of a $2,250 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. He will study geology/earth sciences at the University of Akron or the Ohio State University. He is the son of Melissa and Jason Parrish.

Paige Rossi is the recipient of a $1,000 Dennison Alumni/E F McCarroll Memorial Scholarship, a $500 Clayton “Pete” Wolfe Memorial Scholarship, a $500 John Harmon Memorial Scholarship and a $750 Willard Family Scholarship. She will study education at Ohio Dominican University. She is the daughter of Greg and Amy Rossi.

Makaleigh Vega is the recipient of a $2,500 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Ted & Carol Gram Memorial Scholarship. She will study nursing at Lourdes University. She is the daughter of Hector and Tara Vega.

Luke Whitman is the recipient of a $1,500 Don & Helen Wright Scholarship. He will study civil engineering at the Ohio State University. He is the son of Scott and Tina Whitman.

Mallory Wolf is the recipient of a $1,250 John B. Nolan Scholarship, a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Mary Lou Rice Memorial Scholarship. She will study biology premed. She is the daughter of John and Michelle Wolf.

Thomas Zurcher II is the recipient of a $1,000 First National Bank Dennison Scholarship, a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Nicholas & Timothy Reynolds Scholarship. He will study business at Kent State University Tuscarawas. He is the son of Thomas M. Zurcher and Rebecca L. Zurcher.

These are Claymont High School graduates who currently attend college who will receive scholarships:

Derek Beal is the recipient of a $500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. He is studying nursing at the University of Akron. He is the son of Vince and Kelly Beal.

Kayden Birney is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying business administration and finance at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Scott and Patricia Birney.

Trevor Breehl is the recipient of a $1,750 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. He is studying zoology at Kent State University. He is the son of Marci Smitley.

Lynlea Caley is the recipient of a $3,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying psychology at the University of Cincinnati. She is the son of Scot and Audrey Caley.

Jacob Cannon is the recipient of a $2,500 Mollie Huston Memorial Scholarship. He is studying aerospace systems engineering at the University of Akron. He is the son of Becky Canfield and Jason Cannon.

Taylur Cunningham is the recipient of a $2,500 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying business management at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Valerie Willoughby.

Eric Debolt is the recipient of a $2,500 Mollie Huston Memorial Scholarship. He is studying environmental engineering at Marietta College. He is the son of Jerry and Brandy Debolt.

Kollin Edwards is the recipient of a $1,750 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. He is studying computer science at Ashland University. He is the son of Kene Edwards and Crystal Edwards.

Mariah Evans is the recipient of $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying early childhood education at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Noel “Andy” Evans and Danielle Evans.

Cole Ferguson is the recipient of a $1,000 Herman R. Aeschliman Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Class of 1978 Scholarship. He is studying integrated mathematics at Kent State University Tuscarawas. He is the son of Chad and Michelle Ferguson.

Kacie Fisher is the recipient of a $500 Collin & Shannon Fawcett Scholarship. She is studying finance, management information systems, and business analytics at Ohio University. She is the daughter of Bruce and Rhonda Fisher.

Grace Furniss is the recipient of a $2,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying early childhood education at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Dawn Furniss and Eric Furniss.

MaKayla Grant is the recipient of a $2,000 Mary Lou Rice Memorial Scholarship. She is studying medical billing and coding certification at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Matt and Michele Grant.

Noah Hallman is the recipient of a $1,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. He is studying classical civilization at Ohio University. He is the son of James and Michelle Hallman.

Eric Harmon is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship and a $500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. He is studying political science at Kent State University. He is the son Steve Harmon and Carla Borojevich Harmon.

Isabel Heid-Perez is the recipient of a $1,250 John B. Nolan Scholarship and a $750 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying chemical engineering at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Heather Heid.

Katherine Host is the recipient of a $2,500 Mary Lou Rice Memorial Scholarship. She is studying nursing at Capital University. She is the daughter of Kraig and Cyndy Host.

Natalie Jackson is the recipient of a $1,500 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying accounting at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Ralph Jackson and Terri Jackson.

Meaghan James is the recipient of a $1,750 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying zoology at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Justin James and Christina James.

Hannah Johns is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship and a $1,000 Class of 1978 Scholarship. She is studying intercultural studies with a double-minor in marketing and creative writing at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She is the daughter of Rich and Lisa Johns.

Richie Johns is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. He is studying Christian ministry and journalism media production with film at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He is the son of Rich and Lisa Johns.

Cassandra Jones is the recipient of a $1,500 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying early childhood education at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Tara and James Dickey and Richard and Dawn Jones.

Jewel Lumpcik is the recipient of a $1,000 Mary Lou Rice Memorial Scholarship. She is studying pre-occupation therapy at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Dan and Tracy Lumpcik.

Lindsay Malterer is the recipient of a $1,750 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying exercise science pre-PT at Walsh University. She is the daughter of Craig and Julie Malterer.

Kaitlyn Mangus is the recipient of a $2,500 Mollie Huston Memorial Scholarship. She is studying for a Doctor of Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University. She is the daughter of Ron and Debbie Mangus.

Leigha Maurer is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship and a $1,000 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying early childhood education at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Ron and Martha Maurer.

Makana McGuire is the recipient of a $1,250 John B. Nolan Scholarship. She is studying biomedical science at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Craig and Michelle McGuire.

Dylan McKibben is the recipient of a $1,000 Class of 1956 Scholarship. He is studying biomedical science at the University of Akron. He is the son of Scott and Cristin Beitzel.

Claire Menefee is the recipient of a $1,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is pursuing a certificate degree and prepractical nursing at Stark State Community College. She is the daughter of Melissa and Raymond Menefee.

Harris Ong is the recipient of a $1,250 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. He is studying adolescent-young adult integrated social studies at the University of Akron. He is the son of JJ and Leann Ong.

Mallory Ong is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship and a $1,000 Class of 1978 Scholarship. She is studying early childhood education at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of James and Leann Ong.

Samantha Peters is the recipient of a $500 Collin & Shannon Fawcett Scholarship. She is studying nursing AND at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Veronica Cottrell.

Alexis Potopsky is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying journalism news and information at Ohio University. She is the daughter of David and Kimberly Potopsky.

Rachel Ralston is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship and a $500 Nicholas & Timothy Reynolds Scholarship. She is studying animal assisted therapy at Hocking College. She is the daughter of John and Mary Jo Ralston.

Caylan Rentsch is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying art history at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Cheryl Rentsch.

Sarah Sidoti is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship and a $1,000 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial. She is studying criminal justice and French at the University of Mount Union. She is the daughter of Sal and Lisa Sidoti.

Jamie Specht is the recipient of a $2,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She is studying early childhood inclusive teacher preparation, AYA integrated social studies and history at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Virginia Specht and Bill Specht.

Noah Stewart is the recipient of $1,000 Dave Adams Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Helen Brainerd Memorial Scholarship. She is studying music at the University of Mount Union. He is the son of Kurt and Jennifer Stewart.

Averie Tarbert is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying speech-language pathology at the University of Akron. She is the daughter of Ryan Tarbert and Tricia Allen.

Dekin Vanderpool is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship, a $1,000 Class of 1978 Scholarship and a $500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. He is studying mechanical engineering tech at the University of Akron. He is the son of Chris Calderon and Lacey Calderon.

Sarah Vogt is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying radiation therapy at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Vogt.

Braden Watkins is the recipient of a $1,000 Laporte Family Scholarship, a $1,000 Class of 1978 Scholarship and a $500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. He is studying political science at the Ohio State University. He is the son of Gary and Heather Watkins.

Braydon West is the recipient of a $1,000 Paul R. & Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. He is studying conservation biology at Kent State University. He is the son of Christie Jones.

Maddison Whitmire is the recipient of a $500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying nursing at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Gregg and Susan Monticelli and the former Robert Whitmire II.

Madison Wolf is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying physics at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Michelle and John Wolf.

Sadie Zurcher is the recipient of a $1,500 Clyde R. Arnold Memorial Scholarship. She is studying nursing at Kent State University Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Thomas M. Zurcher and Rebecca L. Zurcher.

“We are truly appreciative of the individuals, families, organizations and businesses who have generously donated scholarships for Claymont students,” said Martha Campbell, scholarship committee member. “We were overwhelmed by the number of people that believe in the higher education of Claymont students. Thank you to all of the students who applied for these generous scholarships.”

The Claymont Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to enhance the educational opportunities in the Claymont City School District.
