AC-WH JVSD BOE recognizes students
The Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District Board of Education held a regular meeting in the board office on Nov. 21.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Recognized the following students: Preston Smeltzer, junior, mechanical engineering, Lexington High School, for achieving September Junior Student of the Month; Keaton Murphy, senior, early childhood education, Ashland High School, for achieving September Senior Student of the Month; Gavin Eikleberry, junior, welding technology, Lexington High School, for achieving October Junior Student of the Month; Korbin Eaches, senior, auto body, West Holmes High School, and Taylor Swiger, HVAC and mechanical engineering, Ohio Virtual Academy, for achieving October Senior Students of the Month; AC-WH Career Center students who achieved honor roll status with all As and students who received honor roll status with all As and Bs for the first nine-week grading period in the 2024-25 school year; AC-WH Career Center students who achieved perfect attendance for the first nine-week grading period in the 2024-25 school year; Rachael Benedict, adult education, phlebotomy, for achieving October Student of the Month; and Melissa Patrick, special recognition for outstanding performance as a school reporter.
—Approved the secondary advisory committees for the 2024-25 school year as required by ORC 3301-61-03 as presented.
—Approved accepting the following donations and sending a letter of appreciation: $1,000 from Gus and Hilary Dria to CBI skills and welding stick rod cans with an estimated value of $3,575 from J & J Welding Company for the welding program to be used for weld test plates and practicing.
—Approved the employment of the following full-time classified personnel, effective 2024-25 contract year: Vincent Kotewicz, ground maintenance/custodian on a classified, full-time, one-year limited contract, salary per the custodial salary schedule for the 2024-25 contract year, effective Nov. 18.
—Approved the resignation of Mallory Constance, cafeteria worker, effective Nov. 29.
—Approved the employment of certified/classified personnel as substitutes, effective 2024-25 contract year.
—Approved the employment of Tri-County certified/classified personnel as substitutes, effective 2024-25 contract year.
—Approved a change order to Universal Enterprises Inc. in the amount of $29,682 to furnish labor and materials to reline the main kitchen in the Adult Education Center. Costs will be funded from Building Fund 0040000.
