Interested students still have time to apply for full-time, part-time and career-enhancement adult education courses at Buckeye Career Center. Full-time adult courses will begin Aug. 24 with shorter classes beginning throughout the fall including adult diploma program offerings, Aspire/GED classes and customized training options for business and industry.

Full-time programs include cosmetology, dental assisting, HVAC-R, heavy equipment/CDL A operator, medical assisting, Law Enforcement Training Academy, utility lineworker and welding technology.

The programs last nine months with the exception of cosmetology, a two-year program, and the programs meet during the school year from August through May in the day or evening hours, depending on each class.

Programs include an externship in the spring, allowing students to gain experience in a work environment prior to completing their training. Students also have the opportunity to gain industry-recognized credentials and certificates.

Students enrolled in full-time programs must have a high school diploma or GED, and certain programs have additional admission requirements. Those who qualify may receive federal financial aid or veterans training assistance.

Adult diploma program options include auto tech, nail tech, phlebotomy, STNA, level-one firefighter, level-two firefighter and welding (short course). Qualifying students can earn a state-issued high school diploma and career-specific technical certification at no cost. Enrolling students must be age 20 or older, live in Ohio and must not already have a high school diploma or GED.

Additionally, short-term career-enhancement and hobby classes that begin in the fall include automotive brakes, automotive electrical/electronic systems, automotive steering and suspension, dog grooming, inventor assembly modeling and more. For a full list of programs, view the Buckeye Career Center adult education catalog at www.buckeyecareercenter.org/ProgramCatalog.aspx.
