Area resident a member of Ashland University's Homecoming court

                        
Joel Besancon, of Smithville, is a member of Ashland University’s Homecoming Court.
Members of the court participate in weekend activities including being recognized at halftime of the football game as well as the homecoming dance. Jeremy Sloan and Ashley Duff were crowned homecoming king and queen at the Banana Splittin’ ceremony on Oct. 7.
Besancon is a middle grades education major with a math and science concentration. He is a third-year member of the orientation team and is a current member of the O-Team executive committee. He is also a football coach at Northwestern High School, a tutor for the math department and a member of the education honorary Kappa Delta Pi. After graduation, he plans to teach math or science to middle school students. He also plans to continue coaching football and raising lambs for 4-H youth and other livestock shows. Besancon was nominated by the orientation team.
