The Strasburg Board of Education approved a resolution to select Beaver Constructors Inc. as the best value design builder for an athletic facilities improvement project.

At the Aug. 21 meeting, Superintendent Vince Lindsey requested authority to negotiate pricing and an agreement with the design builder for preliminary design-build services. The board requires the services of a design builder to plan, design, coordinate, manage and direct all phases of the project for guaranteed maximum price and approved Beaver as the best value firm to perform design services for the project. A second resolution would be presented to the board for approval, and a discussion will be held on how the district would finance the project.

Lindsey said several contractors were interviewed, and it was agreed Beaver Constructors Inc. is the best for the district. Lindsey said if the project moves forward, it will be completed in phases. The result would be one community on one campus. He said the students could walk out the rear door of the school and walk to practices and games at the school.

The board also did the following:

—Approved Susan Wherley as a part-time tutor, not to exceed 29 hours per week, for the 2024-25 school year. She will be paid through Title II funds at $24.50 per hour.
