The Women's Fund was established to impact the lives of women and children in Wayne County by directing resources to organizations that support the education of women and empower change and self-sufficiency.

The Wayne County Community Foundation has announced the 2017 grant award from the Women’s Fund. Based on the evaluation and recommendation from the Women’s Fund advisory committee, the WCCF board of trustees approved a grant award to the Wayne County Schools Career Center of $20,000 for its Women's Empowerment Program.

This is the third competitive grant cycle of the Women’s Fund with a total of $50,000 awarded to benefit women in Wayne County since its inception in 2013.

The WCCF is a not-for-profit charitable community organization established in 1978 to accept contributions, create and administer funds, and make grants for the benefit of the people of the greater Wayne County area.

The foundation has awarded more than $66.8 million in the form of grants and scholarships from its 400 separate funds. As part of the WCCF, donations can be made to the Women’s Fund by individuals, families, businesses and service organizations to allow for greater future grant opportunities.

The Women’s Fund grant guidelines and online applications are available at www.waynecountycommunityfoundation.org. Competitive grant applications from nonprofit, tax-exempt, charitable organizations that benefit women within the greater Wayne County area should be submitted by Sept. 1 each year.
