College Road Map at Wayne College
Navigating the trip from high school to college can be tricky, and students are not the only ones who have questions. The University of Akron Wayne College is planning College Road Map: General College Information Night to help high school juniors or seniors and their parents through the process. However, the event is open to students of any age.
College Road Map is offered at no charge and will take place on Monday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m., in the Student Life Building on the Wayne College campus in Orrville. Light refreshments will be served.
The information session will cover details about the college search process, such as getting the most out of college fairs, selecting the right college, meeting deadlines, beginning the financial aid process and looking for scholarships and grants.
According to Sarah Morrow, admissions counselor, the goal of the program is to help people feel comfortable with the college process. The college experience may seem overwhelming at first for students as well as parents, said Morrow. Its hard to know where to begin, the right questions to ask and how to navigate through the paperwork. Our goal is to give the necessary tools for parents to help their students through the process of finding and applying for college, as well as the ability to ask the important questions.
To register for College Road Map, RSVP by Sept. 13, either online at wayne.uakron.edu/roadmap or by phone at 330-684-8912. Registrations can also be sent via email to Sarah Morrow at sjm34@uakron.edu.
