Bonnie Trubee, president of Beta Iota Chapter, Holmes County, The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, recently reported to the state and international organization on the work of the local chapter. The organization is a professional honor society for women educators with more than 90,000 members. Established in 18 member countries around the world, the society defines its mission as promoting professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. During the 2012-2013 program year, Beta Iota Chapter of DKG has been approved to provide contact hours for teachers of the East and West Holmes local school districts who attend DKG programs. The following meetings are scheduled and approved for classroom teachers to acquire contact hours by attending the programs. Certificates will be issued as proof of attendance. - Two hours contact time Monday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m., at 34 S. Clay St., behind the PNC Bank, at Every Woman’s House office, Millersburg. The program, In Her Shoes, presented by Tina Zickafoose, is about spousal abuse and the choices a victim can make in response. - One hour contact time Monday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m., at Holmes County Public Library, Millersburg. The program, School Issues, will be presented by Joe Edinger, East Holmes superintendent. For information and reservations, call 330-674-3377.
