Dover City Schools has hired Seth Corder as its next assistant superintendent. In addition to six years of experience at Coshocton, Corder has eight years of administrative experience at Newcomerstown, where he has had many roles including elementary and high school assistant principal, curriculum director, and federal programs coordinator.

Corder is a 2002 Dover High School graduate and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mount Union and a master’s degree from Muskingum University. Corder and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Dover with their two children.

“Seth is a great fit for this leadership team and district. He has many years of relevant, local administrative experience and is an alumni with deep roots who understands the Dover community and school system,” said Karie McCrate, newly hired superintendent slated to transition in August.

Dover Schools also hired Katie Nicholson as the next Dover Avenue Elementary School principal on Monday evening. Nicholson is currently working as an administrative intern/assistant principal at an elementary school in Dublin, where she has been since 2016. In 2015 she taught for one year at East School in Dover.

Nicholson is a 2009 Dover High School graduate and has a bachelor’s degree from Walsh University and a master’s degree from Miami University. Nicholson and her husband are relocating back to Dover, and she will begin service at Dover Avenue in August. Nicholson will replace longtime principal Renee Sattler, who is retiring after 35 years as the Dover Avenue principal.

“We are happy to welcome Katie back home and feel confident in her ability to lead Dover Avenue in the future,” McCrate said. “She certainly has big shoes to fill after Renee’s retirement, but they will work closely together to provide a smooth transition for our Dover Avenue students and families.”
