East Holmes Board of Education holds Sept. meeting
East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, Sept. 15 at the East Holmes Central Office.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Approved the payment of bills and the August 2023 financial and reconciliation reports as submitted by the treasurer.
—Approved a “then and now” certificate for Walnut Creek Glass totaling $47,585.70 with the money coming from the PI fund.
—Approved the purpose statement and budgets for the 2023-24 school year as amended.
—Approved the estimated revenues and the certificate of estimated resources as amended.
—Approved the permanent appropriations for 2024 as amended with the accompanying 412 certificate.
—Accepted the following donations: Kristy I. Bowling, Attorney at Law Inc., $2,500 to the Hiland Robotics Club; ProVia, $5,200 to cover Ramsey education materials at Hiland High School/Middle School; Kaufman Realty & Auctions LLC, $200 to the fall raffle at Berlin Elementary; Grasshopper Property Maintenance Inc, $25 to the fall raffle at Berlin Elementary; Mast Trucking, $300 to the fall raffle at Berlin Elementary; Holmes Custom Moulding Ltd., $200 to the fall raffle at Berlin Elementary; and Robbie and Karen Keim, $50 for the Hiland teacher appreciation cart.
—Approved a special services contract with the Holmes County Board of Developmental Disabilities for mid-day transportation for preschool students attending Tri-County ESC’s preschool housed in Holmes DD buildings for the 2023-24 school year.
—Approved the new kindergarten through third grade ELA curriculum maps.
—Approved 19 NEOLA Policies (Volume 42, No. 1, August 2023).
—Accepted the resignation of Beth Mast, Title I at Chestnut Ridge, retiring effective May 31, 2024.
—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2023-24 school year for the following new classified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Kevin Duff, assistant mechanic, effective Sept. 18, and Christine Finley, bus driver, effective Oct. 2.
—Approved the transfer of Cody Herzig from assistant mechanic to head mechanic/transportation coordinator, effective Oct. 1.
—Approved the following placement on the certified salary schedule, effective at the beginning of the 2023-24 contractual school year: Jinell Roll to Masters+20 and Carly Mayle to Masters+20.
—Approved the revised certified/classified substitute list for the 2023-24 school year, retroactive to Aug. 21.
—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2023-24 school year: Megan Beachy, girls basketball JV coach; Michelle Mishler, girls basketball eighth-grade coach; Kimberly Wagler, girls basketball seventh-grade coach; Callie Gerber, cheerleading advisor for varsity and reserve; Allison Hochstetler, cheerleading advisor for seventh and eighth grade; Kari Kaufman, high school student council (split stipend 50/50); Seger Bonifant, high school student council (split stipend 50/50); and Renita Neininger, assistant marching band director ($5,000 paid by the board).
