East Holmes BOE approves offering summer instruction
                        

The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting Friday, March 21 at the Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized the following WKLM Students of the Week: Vanessa Gomez, Feb. 17-21; Alexis Henry, Feb. 24-28; Anniston Miller, March 3-7; and Kalan Miller, March 10-14.

—Approved the phase two proposal from GPD Group for architectural and engineering services for the East Holmes LSD classroom phased renovation project.

—Approved a contract renewal with Midland Council of Governments for internet service provider and managed internal broadband services, beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2030.

—Approved inter-district open enrollment for one student at Chestnut Ridge Elementary for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved offering inter-district and intra-district open enrollment in the East Holmes LSD for the 2025-26 school year.

—Approved offering summer instruction for students currently enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. This will be held at Berlin Elementary June 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25.

—Approved an agreement with VASCO Sports Contractors/NCPA for a tennis court resurfacing project.

—Approved agreements with the Berlin Township Trustees related to the Berlin sidewalk project.

—Approved an agreement with Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative Inc. related to the Winesburg sidewalk project.

—Approved a resolution to adopt an update to the special education model policies and procedures.

—Accepted the following resignations, effective at the end of the 2024-25 contractual school year: Crystal Lovell, aide at Berlin, and Erma Raber, cook at Walnut Creek.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved the transfer of Cassaundra Yackey from aide to secretary at Berlin, effective at the beginning of the 2025-26 contractual school year.

—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2024-25 school year: Carl VonAllman, assistant track coach volunteer; Mark Leinbach, assistant tennis coach; Carrie Jones, ESports adviser (split stipend); and Chad Hochstetler, ESports adviser (split stipend).

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for April 17 at the Central Office.
