East Holmes BOE approves several 1-year contracts
                        

The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on June 21 at the East Holmes Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized Teacher of the Year Lindsey Crilley, kindergarten at Chestnut Ridge Elementary, and Classified Staff of the Year Diane Duarte, secretary at Berlin Elementary.

—Approved an addendum to the educational/special services contract for FY2024 with the Tri-County Educational Service Center.

—Approved a release time cooperative agreement with Nehemiah Release Time Bible Education Program for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved a renewal agreement with The Village Network to provide counseling services to East Holmes Local School District students for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved 55 students for College Credit Plus enrollment for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved adopting a resolution to waive the requirement for the district to provide career-technical education to students enrolled in seventh grade at Hiland Middle School for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved three contracts with East Central Ohio Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved parent-student handbooks and teacher handbooks for the 2024-25 school year for all buildings.

—Approved eight Hiland HS/MS handbooks for the 2024-25 school year.

—Accepted the following resignations: Lynne Johnson, cook at Hiland, retired at the end of the 2023-24 contractual school year; Cassandra Mast, custodian at Berlin, effective May 22; and Carly Mayle, general teacher at Winesburg/Walnut Creek, effective at the end of the 2023-24 contractual school year.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.

—Approved a revision to Megan Amos’ May 17, 2024 contract from a three-year contract to a continuing contract.

—Approved a decrease in days for Carolyn Barkman, library aide at Mt. Hope, from 184-104 (three per week), effective at the beginning of the 2024-25 contractual school year.

—Approved an increase in hours for Lori Pringle, district library media coordinator, from part-time to full-time status for the 2024-25 contractual school year.

—Approved the transfer of Liza Holcomb, cook at Winesburg, to cook at Hiland, effective for the 2024-25 contractual school year. Her hours will decrease from five to four per day for 185 days.

—Approved the placement of Megan Amos to Masters on the certified salary schedule, effective at the beginning of the 2024-25 contractual school year.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2024-25 school year to the following new certified personnel, pending completion of all licensure requirements: Therese Burnham, general teacher at Chestnut Ridge/Mt. Hope; Logan Camp, kindergarten at Chestnut Ridge; Joseph Dillon, social studies teacher at Hiland; Felicia Lorson, second grade at Berlin; Logan Mullet, general teacher at Hiland; Kyle Pettit, science at Hiland; Kassidy Stottlemire, kindergarten part-time at Flat Ridge; and Krista Troyer, intervention specialist at Mt. Hope.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2024-25 school year to the following classified personnel: Valerie Amstutz, cook at Winesburg, 184 days, five hours per day; Dawn Chamberlin, bus driver, 185 days, route to be determined; and Mary Plant, cook at Hiland, 185 days, 4 ½ hours per day.

—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2024-25 school year: Adrianne Bryk, volunteer high school volleyball coach; Madisynn Bryk, volunteer high school volleyball coach; and Brent Schloneger, vocal music assistant director (to be paid $14,000 with $5,000 reimbursed by Music Boosters).

The next board meeting is scheduled for July 19 at the East Holmes Central Office.
