EH BOE holds November meeting
                        

East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, Nov. 17 at the East Holmes Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized the following Hiland WKLM Students of the Week: Corbin Miller, Oct. 23-27; Eden Miller, Oct. 30 through Nov. 3; Savannah Holley, Nov. 6-10; Hannah Miller, Nov. 13-17; Alex Jones, Nov. 20-24; and Lily Yoder, Nov. 27 through Dec. 1.

—Approved the payment of bills and the October 2023 financial and reconciliation reports as submitted by the treasurer.

—Approved the purpose statement and budgets for the 2023-24 school year as amended.

—Approved the five-year forecast for fiscal years ending June 30, 2024, through June 30, 2028.

—Approved a resolution to become a member of the Ohio Schools Council, which assists school districts in achieving operational efficiencies and cost reductions across various school-related domains.

—Approved an addendum to the special education services contract with the Tri-County Educational Service Center.

—Approved a health and dental insurance premium moratorium for December 2023.

—Approved open enrollment for one student at Berlin Elementary for the 2023-24 school year.

—Approved a services reimbursement agreement with Buckeye Career Center for services provided in 2022-23.

—Approved the purchase of two 2025 Bluebird 72-passenger school buses through Cardinal at a cost of $122,618 each. Bids were received through META Solutions.

—Set the 2024 organizational meeting for the East Holmes Board of Education for Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at the East Holmes Central Office. The organizational meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the tax budget hearing and regular January board meeting.

—Accepted the resignations of Noah Boyd, high school guidance counselor, effective Nov. 6, and Maryssa Boyd, secretary at Hiland, effective Nov. 6.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2023-24 school year.

—Approved $500 stipends for 25 staff members for participating in LETRS professional development outside of the normal workday.

—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2023-24 school year: Justin Mark Schlabach, junior high Student Council adviser; Paul Zacour, boys basketball varsity assistant coach; Allan Miller, boys basketball JV coach; Cameron Miller, boys basketball freshman coach; Zachary Rearick, musical pit/orchestra; and Kyle Gerber, volunteer cheerleading adviser.

Other information

Bob Habeger and Jeff Hochstetler spoke during the guest portion of the meeting.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 15 at the East Holmes Central Office.
