I’ll meet you on the hill

“I’ll meet you on the hill,” is a common phrase to hear during Wooster High School’s annual marching band camp. The band’s practice field, which is located at the base of the small hill behind the high school that looks out over Follis Field, is a popular place for band alumni, parents and members of the community to spread out a blanket, munch on some snacks and enjoy watching the band perfect its pre-game, half time and post game shows. The marching band’s first performance of the year will be on Sept. 3, when the Wooster Generals open the 2010 football season against Wadsworth. The halftime show director, Dan Adams, has planned for the debut of the 2010 edition of the marching band to be one of the most memorable in recent history. The band will perform to the music of the group OK GO, whose elaborately choreographed music video to their hit song, Here it Goes Again, holds the title as one of the most watched music videos on YouTube of all times. (For a sneak peek at the original music video check out the Wooster High School Music Department website.) In addition to performing during the Sept.17 game against Ashland, the Oct. 8 game against Lexington and the historic 100th meeting with Orrville on Oct. 30, the band will present “the incomparable Script Woo” during the Homecoming game on October 1, against Clearfork. The band rounds out its 2010 performance schedule with appearances at the Wayne County Fair on Sept. 13, and at the Massillon Tiger Band Review on Sept. 25, before presenting its annual Marching Band Concert on Oct. 26.
