Kiwanis Club scholarships awarded

                        
The New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club recently awarded 16 scholarships of $500 each to local students, for a total of $8,000. The winners of the Kiwanis scholarships for the 2010-2011 school year are: Ben Behrendt, son of Mark and Carolyn Behrendt, will be a senior at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., majoring in sociology. Shawna Bell, daughter of Donald and Marsha Bell, will be a senior at Kent State University Tuscarawas, majoring in nursing. Amanda Cunningham, daughter of Michael and Victoria Cunningham, is a senior at New Philadelphia High School, and will attend Kent State University Tuscarawas, majoring in nursing. Abby Daley, daughter of Dave and Peggy Daley, will be a sophomore at Mount Union College, majoring in education. Zachary Denham, son of Pete and Kimberly Kavadas, is a senior at New Philadelphia High School, and will attend The Ohio State University, majoring in physical therapy. Gina Edwards, daughter of Jack Edwards and Susan May, will be a junior at Ohio University, majoring in journalism. Jennifer Hatfield, daughter of James and Tammy Hatfield, is a senior at New Philadelphia High School, and will attend Freed-Hardeman University, majoring in pre-med. Ashley Hawk, daughter of Don and Rhonda Hawk, will be a junior at Kent State University Stark, majoring in nursing. John Miller, son of Matt and Carol Miller, is a senior at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, and will attend Capital University, majoring in accounting. Melissa Montan, daughter of Nicholas Montan and Amy Montan, will be a senior at Otterbein College, majoring in visual communications. Rachel Ramos, daughter of Ricardo and Cheryl Ramos, will be a junior at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind., majoring in communications, public relations, and Spanish. Courtney Thomas, daughter of John Thomas and Jennifer Jagunic, will be a junior at Kent State University, majoring in news broadcasting. Caitlin Troyer, daughter of Trent and Tammie Troyer, will be a sophomore at Miami University, majoring in zoology. Cassandra Williams, daughter of Craig and Laura Williams, will be a senior at The Ohio State University, majoring in civil engineering. Scott Williams, son of Craig and Laura Williams, will be a sophomore at The University of Toledo, majoring in pharmacy. Stacey Wise, whose guardian is Joanne Wilbert, will be a sophomore at The University of Akron, majoring in chemical engineering. All recipients are residents of New Philadelphia except for Cassandra Williams and Scott Williams, who are residents of Dover.
