OMEA field competition to be held in New Philadelphia Oct. 22

                        
The New Philadelphia High School (NPHS) Marching Quaker Band and the NPHS Band Boosters will be hosting their annual Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) sanctioned field competition on Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium in Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia, beginning at 4 p.m. Gates will open at 3 p.m. and admission will be charged for adults, students and senior citizens. Preschoolers will be admitted free. Bands that are scheduled to perform in this competition, which is a qualifier for the OMEA State Marching Band Finals, are Fort Frye, Lexington, Indian Valley, Crestwood, Fredericktown, East Canton, Ridgewood, Coshocton, Marlington, Licking Valley, Tallmadge, Chippewa, Union Local, Cambridge, Groveport, Nordonia Hills, Buckeye, Beaver Local, and Pickerington Central. The host band, New Philadelphia, will perform for comments only. This will be the final weekend for bands to qualify for the OMEA State Marching Band Finals that will be held the following two weekends in Dublin and/or Dayton respectively.
