The Orrville City Schools Board of Education met May 21, and among other business, it hired a new high school principal and assistant superintendent.

Andrew Brenner has been hired on a three-year contract to take over as the principal at Orrville High, replacing Tim Adams, who left to take the same position at his alma mater, Chippewa High School.

Brenner comes to the district after serving as the associate principal at Medina High School, a position he has held since August 2008. Brenner has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University. He has a master’s degree in education from Ashland University. He also is a part-time police officer with Montville Township, having graduated from the University of Akron Police Academy in 2018.

Brenner was previously a teacher in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, where he was a social studies teacher and football coach. Brenner lives in Medina. He and his wife have two children, both of whom are graduates of Medina High School.

Jay Bishop was hired with a three-year contract as assistant superintendent, with a start date of July 15. Bishop currently serves as an administrator with the Streetsboro City Schools. He has served in various capacities with the West Geauga School District including serving as the director of operations, principal at West Geauga High School, associate principal and technology education teacher.

Bishop has a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education and a Master of Education from John Carroll University. Bishop and incoming Orrville Superintendent Dr. David Toth previously worked together in the West Geauga School District before Toth left to become superintendent of schools at Crestwood.

Bishop also is the co-founder of ActionEducate, a business designed to help families, communities and schools maintain a positive environment and improve relationships. ActionEducate is the parent company of VapeEducate, an anti-vaping initiative; AllyEducate, an anti-bullying initiative; and DiversityEducate.

The board also moved Toth’s official start date up to July 1.
