January was School Board Recognition Month, and Buckeye Career Center celebrated its board members for their dedication and commitment to BCC and its students. “School Board Superheroes” was the 2025 theme.

Buckeye Career Center joined with other districts throughout the state to recognize the contributions school board members make to their communities.

“Our Buckeye Career Center Board of Education members are truly dedicated to our students, staff and stakeholders,” Superintendent Bob Alsept said. “Many of them also serve on their partner school board of education. The time away from their family is very valuable to keep us on the proper course. Too frequently, they receive far more criticism than praise. This is an opportunity for all of us to say thank you for a job well done.”

School Board Recognition Month honors the members of Ohio’s more than 700 city, exempted village, local, and joint vocational boards of education and educational service centers' governing boards for their commitment to public education.

School board members contribute their time and talents toward the advancement of public education. They represent a continuing commitment to local citizen control and decision-making in education.

Buckeye Career Center Board of Education members for 2025 include Steve Brode (Newcomerstown), Jim Gertz (East Holmes), Robert Higgenbotham (Conotton Valley), Cyndy Host (Claymont), Kevin Harvey (Strasburg), Randy Longacher (Dover), Dan Ries (Carrollton), Francis Picchetti (Indian Valley), Scott Tritt (Tuscarawas Valley), Bob Hannon (Garaway) and Kelly Ricklic (New Philadelphia).

BCC Board of Education members were recognized at the board’s Jan. 21 meeting. Each member was gifted a piece of memorabilia designed by the CAD/development and design, welding, and auto collision labs.
