Space announces military academy nominee from Tuscarawas County

Acknowledging both a strong academic background as well as a courageous desire to serve his country in uniform, U.S. Rep. Zack Space recently announced that Joseph Behrendt, of New Philadelphia, has been nominated for appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. “Joseph represents the best our region has to offer, and I commend him for using his talents to serve our nation,” Space said. “His commitment to academics and service is truly commendable.” Behrendt is the son of Mark and Carolyn Behrendt and is currently a senior at New Philadelphia High School. While a Congressional nomination is an application requirement, it does not necessarily guarantee acceptance.
