Students awarded scholarships by Retired Teacher Association
Nine students were awarded scholarships by the Tuscarawas County Retired Teacher Association.
To qualify for these scholarships, the recipients have to be a child, grandchild, niece or nephew of an association member. They excel scholastically, display leadership and community involvement, and are pursuing college studies.
Nick Schauer, a graduate of Kings High School, will receive the Jane and Bill Jabs Memorial Scholarship. He will attend the Ohio State University, majoring in computer science. He is the grandson of Mildred Schauer.
Emma Warkall, a graduate of Garaway High School, will attend Mount Vernon Nazarene College and pursue a degree in business management. She is the granddaughter of Karen Warkall.
Katelyn Campbell, a graduate of Cedar Park High School, is the granddaughter of Andrea and Paul Fanti. She will attend Texas Tech University. Her course of study will be psychology and occupational therapy.
Ian Sexton, a graduate of Dover High School, will attend Mount Union University. He will major in business. He is the grandson of Betty Wherley.
Anna Styer, a graduate of New Philadelphia High School, will attend George Washington University. Her course of study will be international relations. She is the granddaughter of Ardath Nigro.
Allison Blackmore is from Comstock Park, Michigan. She will attend Michigan State University and major in medicine. She is the granddaughter of Peggy and Keith Walker.
Jocelyn Troyer, a graduate of Garaway High School, will attend Malone University and study for an early childhood degree. She is the granddaughter of Kay Troyer.
Brock Chumney, a graduate of New Philadelphia High School, will attend Kent State University. He will major in math and history education. He is the grandson of Becky Beitzel.
Rachel Shoemaker of Butler Pennsylvania will major in business/entrepreneurship. She will attend Grove City College and is the granddaughter of Marion Shoemaker.
