A number of Buckeye Career Center students are advancing to their respective career-technical student organization’s national competition in the coming months.

HOSA Future Health Professionals members who will compete in the virtual national competition in June include Autumn Brown, exercise science, Conotton Valley; Brianna Francis, intro to nursing, Dover; Jocelynn Nuske, exercise science, Carrollton; Ellie Stevenson, intro to nursing, home-schooled; Karla Western, intro to nursing, Claymont, in Healthcare Issues Exam; Janelle Poleet, medical assisting, Claymont, in Interviewing Skills; and Connor Harlan, exercise science, Claymont, in Sports Medicine.

Results from the Ohio Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America state leadership conference also include two national qualifiers from BCC. Julia Weaver (teaching professions/Dover) earned first place and a gold rating in Interpersonal Communications, and Brooke Polka (teaching professions/New Philadelphia) earned silver in Professional Presentation.

They are now eligible to compete virtually in the national FCCLA competition to be held June 27 through July 2.

Other BCC students who placed at state include the team of Mackenzie Guy (teaching professions/Claymont) and Reighly Newbold (teaching professions/Carrollton), which received a bronze rating for Interpersonal Communications.
