The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum has announced that it will hold the eighth annual Patriot Rally at New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The theme this year is “Ohio: Heart of History.”

It will be a free event for families with activities where kids and adults will be able to interact with re-enactors of famous people from Ohio, try their hand at inventing, find out about archaeology and celebrate Ohio’s 215-year history.

Participating museums and demonstrators include the Tuscarawas County Public Library System, Historic Schoenbrunn Village, Massillon Museum, Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, Historic Zoar Village, World War 1 re-enactors, Fort Laurens, and President and Mrs. Lincoln.

Come out early to be one of the first 500 kids to receive a goodie-stuff drawstring bag in the Food Court. Again this year, there will be a scavenger hunt for the kids to complete as they take the adventure around the mall to learn about Ohio’s history. A completed scavenger hunt will enter them in a chance to win an iPad, Kindle, museum passes, movie passes and other prizes.

Adults also can check out the Essay and Art Contest with the kids, which will be displayed by the main stage. Kids can participate in the History Look-a-Like Contest at 12:30 p.m. on the Elder-Beerman stage by dressing up as their favorite figure from history.

Keep an eye out for your favorite mascot at the rally and the flash mob during the day. Try a cookie from the Canteen Cart, check out all the museums and sites around the county, and watch historical programs on the stage.

This event will be held rain or shine. For more information call Heath Manbeck at 740-922-6776 or email heathm@dennisondepot.org.
