Members of the Beta Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, society of women educators, gathered at Der Dutchman Restaurant for the group’s annual reunion dinner.

                        

The Beta Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, society of women educators, met on the evening of Sept. 10 at Der Dutchman Restaurant in Walnut Creek. Fifteen members and two guests were in attendance for the annual reunion dinner, the first meeting of the 2018-19 school year.

A highlight of the evening’s meeting was the presentation of certificates of appreciation to members serving the Beta Iota Chapter for 15 or more years. Members receiving certificates and years of membership are as follows: Bonnie Agawa, 29; Linda Amstutz, 24; Loretta Baur, 34; Bonnie Doty, 36; Darlene Fox, 36; Lorrie Hradek, 35; Cathie Lynch, 29; Marge Martin, 51; Anna Miller, 36; Joyce Miller, 21; Ruth Miller, 35; Pat Patten, 36; Carol Remington, 36; Merry Lynn Sigrist-Straits, 31; Shannon Stutzman, 19; Chris Swank, 34; and Bonnie Trubee, 46.

New program booklets were distributed and upcoming program highlights discussed. The next meeting will be held Oct. 8 at the Human Services Building conference room in Millersburg at 4:30 p.m.

The Beta Iota Chapter has been working to provide backpacks and diaper bags filled with necessary supplies to children in Holmes County entering foster care. Stephanie Geib from Job and Family Services will address the needs of foster children and fostering families in Holmes County and the impacts of these needs in the classroom.

This meeting is open to all Holmes County teachers. The Beta Iota Chapter also is selling Coblentz Chocolates to raise funds for the backpacks.
