The Hiland High School Varsity Singers qualified for OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Events by receiving a superior rating at OMEA District Large Group Adjudicated Events at Granville High School at the beginning of March.

                        

The Hiland High School Varsity Singers received straight superior ratings (highest possible rating) in Class AA (most advanced OMEA class) at OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Events on Friday, April 27 at Jackson High School.

The Varsity Singers was the 12th ensemble to perform of the evening and the first ensemble of the evening to receive straight superior ratings from all four OMEA adjudicators: three in the performance room and one in the sight-reading room.

The Varsity Singers performed three choral selections: "All That Hath Life and Breath Praise Ye the Lord" by Rene Clausen, "Sure on this Shining Night" by Morten Lauridsen and "Great Day" by Warren Martin.

The Varsity Singers also sight-read a Class AA piece of choral music in four parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass), using the music literacy system, Solfege.

The Hiland High School Varsity Singers qualified for OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Events by receiving a superior rating at OMEA District Large Group Adjudicated Events at Granville High School at the beginning of March.

The choral director of the group is Alexander Looney.

The ensemble members are Braedyn Ayers, Abby Beach, Chloe Beachy, Justin Beachy, Clay Beechy, Gabe Brown, Ethan Habeger, Nadia Hershberger, Shayne Hershberger, Brandon Hostetler, Seth Kauffman, Kayli Keim, Brant Klink, Sarah Kurtz, Olivia Lowe, Joey Miller, Elyse Miller, Sophie Miller, Abigail Rangel, Lily Reese, Arryn Schlabach, Timothy Schlabach, Trent Schlabach, Kobe Shetler, Marissa Somers, Cozette Torrence, Bradley Weaver, Jennifer Wood, Michael Wood, Gabby Yoder, Michael Yoder and Sasha Yoder.
