The Tuscarawas County YMCA has awarded seven scholarships totaling $12,000 to area students from the Thomas J. Patton/YMCA Scholarship Fund.

YMCA interim CEO Keith Lands said, “The scholarship committee is pleased to support these students who have been active in youth leadership in the Y and the community.”

The scholarship fund was established by Robert (Fizz) Miller in 1989 to honor Tom Patton’s more than 40 years of service to the community through his work and leadership at the Tuscarawas County YMCA. Since 1990, 146 individuals have received scholarships.

Brenton Billman is a first-year scholarship recipient. He is the son of Greg and Amanda Billman of New Philadelphia and is a 2022 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He will attend Otterbein University, majoring in mechanical engineering. He is a YMCA member and swim team volunteer.

Lexus Marsh is a first-year scholarship recipient. She is the daughter of Greg and Rebecca Marsh of Dover and is a 2020 graduate of Dover High School. She is attending Kent State University at Tuscarawas, majoring in business. She is a YMCA member and former Wellness Center associate at the YMCA.

Lucas Marsh is a first-year scholarship recipient. He is the son of Greg and Rebecca Marsh of Dover and is a 2020 graduate of Dover High School. He is attending Kent State University at Stark, majoring in biology. He is a YMCA member and former Wellness Center associate at the YMCA.

Maci Willoughby is a first-year scholarship recipient. She is the daughter of Scott and Amy Willoughby of Strasburg and is a 2022 graduate of Strasburg-Franklin High School. She will attend Stark State University, majoring in surgical technology. She is a gymnastics associate at the YMCA.

Connor Harlan has been awarded a second-year scholarship. He is the son of Jamey and Stacy Harlan of New Philadelphia. He attends Kent State University and is majoring in integrated science.

Tyson Lurie has been awarded a second-year scholarship. He is the son of Seth and Danielle Lurie of Dover. He attends The Citadel Military College and is majoring in education and criminal justice.

Jonah McGlumphy has been awarded a second-year scholarship. He is the son of Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer of Stonecreek. He attends The College of Wooster and is majoring in education and history.
