Fifth annual Rich Dalessandro Memorial Race
The fifth annual Rich Dalessandro Memorial Race has been deemed by all involved a huge success.
We had a record-setting number of participants in the fifth annual Rich Dalessandro Memorial Fall Turkey 5K, Two-Mile Run/Walk, and Kids Fun Run held Nov. 3, said Chrissy (Dalessandro) Fratena, race director. The race was created in memory of my brother, Rich, who died of leukemia five years ago. We wanted something good to come out of this tragedy so we created the race and in the previous four years we have raised over $25,000 for the charity.
This year we had 700 registered with 663 crossing the finish line. This more than doubles what we had last year and is nearly 300 over our highest number ever. In addition we had 41 kids participate in the Kids Fun Run. All proceeds raised go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and two local families battling leukemia: Randy Shanklin and Sherri Keplar.
