The Adaptive Sports campaign, “Ability to Play,” will run through Saturday, July 7 at the following Buehler’s Fresh Foods locations: Wooster Towne Market, Orrville, Wooster Milltown, Jackson Township and Massillon.

Customers at Buehler’s may make a donation of any amount at the checkout. Proceeds will benefit Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio, a local nonprofit providing individuals with physical disabilities access to sports and recreation.

“As one of the largest minority groups in the U.S., individuals with disabilities reside on the fringe of society with fewer opportunities to engage in activities that improve their health and wellness,” said Lisa Followay, executive director of ASPO. “They have the highest rates of unemployment, physical inactivity and poorer health status compared to any other subgroup. We want to move them from the sidelines and into the game. We are grateful for Buehler’s continued support of our community and specifically individuals with disabilities. This campaign will allow us to continue to remove barriers to participation and provide unique, unduplicated programs to those with physical disabilities in our community.”

“I have had the privilege to serve on the board of directors for ASPO for the past several years. This organization, the people serving the athletes, the staff and everyone associated have been a true inspiration to me. Buehler's Fresh Foods has always been supportive, whether donating food items or sponsorship for events,” said Jeff Tomassetti, produce/floral director at Buehler’s Fresh Foods.
