Set on Long Island in the 1950s, the play centers around the wealthy Larrabee family and their involvement with Sabrina Fairchild, the daughter of the family chauffeur. She has just returned from five years in Paris and presents herself as a young woman of beauty, charm and sophistication, so different from the girl the family had largely ignored.

The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County will hold auditions for “Sabrina Fair” at 7 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, Aug. 5 and 6. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. The audition will consist of readings from the script.

The cast calls for seven adult men and seven adult women, several of which are character parts. These include a witty, perceptive and beautiful mother; a father, whose one passion is attending funerals; the chauffeur, who has been dabbling in the stock market; and the smart magazine editor, who as a house guest is the interested observer.

Sabrina has brought with her a French suitor and plans to find out if she is still in love with the younger Larrabee son, David. Elder son Linus, a cynical, good-humored tycoon who has taken control of the family fortune, detects Sabrina’s feelings for his brother and for his own amusement lays a trap to bring them together. Eventually Sabrina discovers it is really Linus she wants.

Director Kathy Harmon Blair-Bergstrom said, “If you loved the movie 'Sabrina,' you will love the play that it is based on.”

“Sabrina Fair” will open Friday, Oct. 5 and continue its run Oct. 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20. Evening performances will be at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.
