Civil War Round Table kicks off season
The Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table will meet Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover.
Living historian Kevin Wood will share a first-hand account of Abraham Lincoln’s life, from his childhood on the frontier to the turbulent years from 1855-65.
Wood will quote from Lincoln's best-known speeches and writings and also will talk about Lincoln's story of how he rose from a humble background to the highest office in the land through self-study, hard work, ambition and a strong moral character.
Wood has been portraying Lincoln since 2000 and has made over 1,750 appearances in 32 states, as well as Washington, D.C. and Canada and Spain.
The Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table strives to educate the community about the Civil War, to preserve Civil War heritage and to remember those who struggled for their cause. Each month the group invites a speaker to talk about a different aspect of the war between the states.
