County health department releases 2024 annual report
The Tuscarawas County Health Department has released its 2024 annual report, which highlights the agency’s continued efforts to prevent disease, promote healthy behaviors and protect the environment throughout Tuscarawas County.
Key statistics from the report include 155 car or booster seats provided to families, 1,329 food safety inspections completed, 3,889 medical appointments conducted, and 5,299 birth and death certificates issued. The department also collected 13.12 tons of scrap tires and received $2,129,565 in grant funding.
The report details activities from each service bureau within the department and marks a milestone: 2024 was the first year since the onset of the COVID pandemic in March 2020 that Tuscarawas County recorded more births than deaths. There were 1,150 registered births among county residents and 1,106 registered deaths.
“In 2024 we conducted projects to assist those in the Tuscarawas County community who have the greatest challenges, and we extended our outreach to remote county areas and specific populations more than ever before,” said Katie Seward, MPH, Tuscarawas County health commissioner. “We focused on initiatives to elevate community conditions and enhance the overall quality of life for everyone in our county.”
Seward expressed appreciation for the department’s staff, board members and community partners. “We remain dedicated to enhancing our services and programs to continue serving our community,” she said.
