CWRT last 2023 program is Nov. 21
The Wayne County Civil War Round Table will hold its final program of 2023 on Nov. 21. The program, which is free and open to the public, will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Wayne County Historical Society schoolhouse, 546 E. Bowman St., Wooster.
Presenting the program, Civil War Women Forged a Path, will be Kim Villalva, a leadership trainer, author and speaker.
Women of the Civil War forged a path that others would follow. As they stepped out of their traditional and societal roles, they set out to make a difference and ended up making history. Villalva will show how Civil War women contributed to this time in the nation’s history, discussing the characteristics these women exhibited and sharing their stories.
Villalva researched and designed new programs for Girl Scouts on A Day in the Life of a Civil War Girl and Empowering Girls for Today and Tomorrow. She created a series of six short educational videos about the history and importance of Memorial Day that were filmed at various cemeteries throughout Ohio.
As a writer and author, Villalva’s inspirational short stories have won or placed in contests across the country for over 20 years. Her children’s books include “Empowered Women: Ohio Women in the Military” and “Abraham Lincoln: The Servant Leader.”
She lives in Centerville and spends time with her family performing cultural dances and exploring the histories of small towns.
There is parking onsite entering from Spink Street and along the fence in the Drug Mart parking lot. For more information about the Wayne County Historical Society, visit waynehistoricalohio.org.
