The Stark County School Financing District for School Safety and Security and Mental Health has filed an issue with the Stark County Board of Elections for the Aug. 7 special election. The Northwest Local School District and Tuslaw Local School District both overlap into Wayne County.

The Stark County Board of Elections has agreed to host the Wayne County voters affected by this election.

Voters in the Northwest and Tuslaw districts in Wayne County include Baughman 1 (43.05), Baughman 2 (44.05 and 44.07) and Chippewa 1 (53.04). 

Voters affected will receive a notice via U.S. mail regarding their polling location for this special election prior to election day. Voters may visit www.votewayne.org for more information, to check their voter registration or to change their address. All absentee and early voting will be handled through the Stark County Board of Elections at 3525 Regent Ave. NE, Canton, OH 44705; by calling 330-451-7004, 330-451-VOTE (8683) or 1-866-878-VOTE (8683); by email at boe@starkcountyohio.gov; or by visiting www.starkcountyohio.gov/board-of-elections.

To properly register, visit one of the following places by the registration deadline:

—Wayne County Board of Elections office, 200 Vanover St., Ste. 1, Wooster, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the office closed Wednesday, July 4 for Independence Day.

—The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office.

—BMV or Deputy Registrars.

—Offices of designated agencies including the Department of Job and Family Services, the Department of Health (including WIC), the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Developmental Disabilities, and any state-assisted college or university that provides assistance to disabled students.

—County treasurer’s office.

—Any public library.

—Any public high school or vocational school.

Qualifications to register for this election: must be a citizen of the United States, must be 18 years of age on or before the Aug. 7 special election, must be a resident of Ohio 30 days prior to the day of the election, are not incarcerated for a felony conviction, have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court, and have not been permanently disenfranchised for violations of election laws.
