Each year longevity and dedication are celebrated at the Dutchman Hospitality Group’s Anniversary Award Banquet, held in the various regions in Ohio, Florida and Indiana where Dutchman Hospitality restaurants, shops, a theater and inns are located.

This year Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek hosted the banquet celebrating the Berlin, Walnut Creek and Sugarcreek locations. Following a dinner prepared by Dutch Valley Restaurant, 52 employees were honored for their commitment to DHG, each with service ranging from five to 30 years.

In addition to anniversary awards, Dutchman Hospitality chooses seven staff members to receive the annual Excellence Awards, celebrated with a framed declaration and a cash award. In addition to the seven, one employee is chosen to receive the President’s Award, which also includes a framed declaration and cash award.

In order to qualify for the Excellence Awards, employees must meet the following criteria: exhibit a passion to serve, consistently serve from the heart, exhibit a positive attitude, take pride in their appearance, excel in their position, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

All staff members are eligible for the awards. Nominations are accepted from all levels including co-workers, managers and supervisors. The nominations are evaluated and award winners are chosen by the company’s executive team and the Dutchman Hospitality president.

At the March event, four of the 2023 Dutchman Hospitality Excellence Awards were given to Matt Davidson, Berlin Farmstead Restaurant; Laurie Haney, Dutch Valley Gifts; and Cheryl Litman, Carlisle Inn Walnut Creek. In addition, the 2023 Dutchman Hospitality President’s Award for Excellence was awarded to Mabel Yoder, Dutch Valley Restaurant.

“When Mabel is scheduled to work, she always shows up,” said Mike Miller, Dutchman Hospitality president. “She is never late. She has an unmatched work ethic combined with a willingness to take on any necessary tasks, no matter how unpleasant or challenging.

“With a servant’s heart and the best interest of the guests in mind, she has filled the role of hostess, baker, cook, dishwasher, table cleaner, retail bakery salesperson, van driver and manager. Nominated by her peers and supervisors, we are delighted to name Mabel as the recipient of the 2023 President’s Award.”

Dutchman Hospitality Group owns and operates seven restaurants, four inns, 10 retail stores, a theater, a food manufacturing facility, and a wholesale restaurant and hotel supply company.
