Farm Bureau’s Harvest for Hunger is slated for Aug. 21
The Holmes County Farm Bureau, Ohio Farm Bureau and community members will unite Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Hershberger’s Farm & Bakery to raise funds for Harvest for Hunger, an organization that raises money for four area food banks.
The evening is a festival of food and fun while serving an important role, and all it costs is a monetary donation.
The food menu will include cheeseburgers, hot dogs, noodles, baked beans, ice cream and other goodies, and the petting zoo will be open and available, so bring the kids while supporting local food pantries.
The evening will include a live auction, and Dr. Eric Shaver, DVM, will share the event’s history and purpose, along with words from Edgar Raber, executive director at the Love Center Food Pantry in Millersburg, one of the four recipients.
“We’re grateful to the Farm Bureau and their hard work,” Raber said. “They’ve done an awesome job with this event and in supporting area pantries. Holmes County is unique. It’s the farmers of Holmes County and the farmers of America who feed not only Holmes County and America, but people around the world. Together we can wipe out hunger in this community and around the world.”
The Farm Bureau has been supporting local food pantries since 2016.
At last year’s event, Shaver said the county has an obligation to take a seat at the table when it comes to feeding the hungry.
He said the food pantries are tailored to help those in need throughout the county, and they are all working together to provide for the hungry, noting Holmes County Farm Bureau has committed more than $60,000 to local food pantries.
Hershberger’s Farm & Bakery is located at 5452 state Route 557, just west of Berlin.
