The Five Oaks mansion on historic Fourth Street in Massillon is open for tours on Sunday afternoons in August. Tours, which take approximately one hour, start in the Great Hall at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Massillon Heritage Foundation, which owns the 1894 vintage stone mansion, trains docents to lead tours and answer questions about the mansion, architect Charles F. Schweinfurth and the McClymonds family that built and lived in the home.

Expect to see Tiffany windows and fixtures, carved woodwork, Gilded Age fireplaces, hand-laid gold leaf decoration on walls, and a grand staircase.

The admission fee is $7 per person. Tour passes from 2020 will be honored.

To schedule a private tour for a group at another time, call MHF board member Doug Scheetz at 330-327-3368 to check availability and plan a tour. Thursdays are typically good if planned far enough in advance. Large groups that plan to attend regularly scheduled Sunday tours should call ahead to assure an accommodating tour experience.

The Massillon Woman’s Club occupies the historic building and hosts its own meetings and special events there. They do not, however, schedule tours. Call Scheetz to do so.

Five Oaks is located at 210 Fourth St. NE in Massillon. Free parking is available on adjacent streets. For more information visit www.five-oaks.org.
