The Tuscarawas County Public Library will host its second annual Floral Fest Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Main Library in New Philadelphia. The Floral Fest celebrates spring and the love of flowers through crafts, activities and a tea party.

“The Floral Fest idea came about because our library system has the fall festivals at the various branches and I realized we did not have a spring festival,” said Mary Smrek, children’s services manager. “I looked into different spring festivals in our country, and the famous ones usually focused on a single flower such as cherry blossoms or tulips.”

Smrek said she didn’t want to limit the festival to just one flower and decided to call it Floral Fest. She said she hopes everyone will feel welcome to attend the program as a family-centered event at the library.

The first half of the event will involve different activities in the children’s department while the second half will be the tea party, where attendees can try herbal tea.

Sign up on the event calendar at www.tusclibrary.org or call the library at 330-364-4474.

The Tuscarawas County Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia.
