Kathryn M. Tschiegg, founder of Central American Medical Outreach, will present her book titled “Hope for the Forgotten: My Unlikely Journey” on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dover Public Library.

During the program Tschiegg will tell her story of overcoming obstacles, of mistakenly being placed in a “slow learner” class in public school, of enduring a difficult experience in the Peace Corps, of achieving recognition as a top-flight ER and ICU nurse, and of building an organization from scratch that now employs 65 in Honduras and five in Ohio. A book-signing will follow the program.

CAMO was founded out of a duffel bag from her living room 30 years ago and is now a multimillion-dollar international nonprofit delivering education, medical services and community development to those in need in Honduras. Currently, CAMO is providing more than 170,000 services per year and is shipping eight to 10 containers of medical equipment and supplies annually.

Tschiegg spends half the year living and working in Honduras and the other half at CAMO’s headquarters in her hometown of Orrville in Wayne County.

This program will be held in the community room at the DPL, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.
