Free mental health training opportunities to be offered
The Suicide Prevention Committee through the Empower Tusc Coalition will offer Mental Health First Aid Training on Aug. 16.
Two free training opportunities will be held: Adult Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid. Both classes will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kent State Tuscarawas.
“Ensuring that we know how to be supportive individuals and a supportive community is essential as it relates to mental health,” Empower Tusc coordinator Jodi Salvo said. “We strongly encourage community members to consider registering to attend this free training opportunity.”
During each course attendees will learn to identify common signs and symptoms of mental illness, how to interact with a person in a crisis and where to find resources for those in crisis.
Those encouraged to attend include anyone who works with the public or community members, anyone who interacts with youth and adults, and anyone impacted by mental illness.
The training is free, courtesy of support from Prevention Action Alliance and the Empower Tusc Suicide Prevention Committee.
