The Dover Knights of Columbus will celebrate Halloween by hosting the annual Ghost Chase 5k road race and kids run through the streets of Dover and local cemeteries on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Ghost Chase 5k will start and finish at the Knights of Columbus, 346 W. Ninth St., next to the Warther’s Museum parking lot. The 5k race will step off at 9 a.m. and will be electronically timed.

There will be awards for the top-three male and female finishers and medals for the top-three male and female finishers in 14 age categories in the 5k race.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to get into the Halloween spirit by wearing costumes. Special awards will be given to participants in the best costumes. Many race volunteers also will be in costume.

All runners will receive a T-shirt, and refreshments will be served after the race in the Knights of Columbus hall.

Advance registration is $20. Online registration is available at www.runsignup.com. Paper registration forms are available at the YMCA of Tuscarawas County or by sending an email to racedirector@runforhome.org. Race-day registration will open at 7:30 a.m. and cost $25.

The kids run is free and will start at 8:45 a.m. All children participating in the short dash will receive a ribbon. No registration is needed for the kids run.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the activities of the Dover Knights of Columbus Council 1973. The Knights support programs that benefit the developmentally disabled and activities at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Tuscarawas Central Catholic Elementary School.
