Guild members share art and other treasures
The Tuscarawas County Art Guild’s June meeting began with a Show and Tell session, which will become a monthly activity at the meetings.
Vice President Connie Whal explained to the new members how the session works as she displayed her new necklace creation.
Longtime guild member Beverly Hammerstrom of Dover shared a tapestry and pillow from a lady in Akron.
Joe Willis came across an antique artist easel from the ‘30s that belonged to his cousin Levi Keim of Beach City and shared his recent painting of mountains and a lake painted on Masonite.
The members were encouraged to look beyond their usual surroundings and come up with new ideas that will motivate them.
During July the guild members will have the opportunity to show at the Dover Library. The artists also will display and sell their artwork during the Zoar Harvest Festival July 28-29. The Art Guild also has been asked to do an ongoing display at the New Towne Mall. Details are in progress.
Navarre’s one-day art show is scheduled for Aug. 18. Early plans are being made for the guild’s juried fine art display, which will benefit their annual art scholarship.
Refreshments for the meeting were provided by Nancy McDonald of Dover and Harley Sefert of New Philadelphia.
