The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location for the pop-up pantry will be in the parking lot of the health department offices at 244 W. South St. in Wooster.

Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals, adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.

“We have been serving between 60 and 75 families each month and are hoping to serve more families in need in October,” said Nick Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner.

The Wayne County Health Department also is looking for volunteers to help with the pop-up pantries as well. They would need to be able to be there an hour before and a half-hour after the food pantry, in addition to the actual pantry itself.
