In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Tuscarawas County YMCA is collaborating with St. John’s UCC Fourth & Faith and Dover Public Library to host a celebration of Latino culture on Saturday, Oct. 7. The event is called Mucho Gusto, which means “nice to meet you,” and it will take place at the YMCA from noon to 3 p.m.

This event is an opportunity to discover the culture of Latino neighbors. Young ladies in colorful traditional clothing will greet people at the door and stamp the pasaportes, which people can turn in for an opportunity to win a raffle basket.

A live marimba band will play from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tamale-like chuchitos and atol corn drink will be served. A local tienda will have a variety of authentic snacks for sale. A coloring table will be set up where children can color and learn about the flags, animals and flowers of several Latino countries. People can enter to win a raffle basket by touring some local tienditas and attending scheduled programs.
