The Wayne County Izaak Walton League is sponsoring a mobility-impaired deer hunt Dec. 1-3 near West Salem.

This hunt allows permanently or temporarily disabled hunters, wheelchair-bound or not, the opportunity to hunt during the 2024 deer gun season. Hunting experience is not required, but a valid hunting license and deer permit are required of each hunter. The hunt location is 6928 Cedar Valley Road in West Salem.

Prior to the hunts, there will be a hunter orientation on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. at the same location. This orientation will allow hunters to view the blinds and become familiar with the club grounds before their time to hunt.

There will be wheelchair-accessible carts to transport hunters and four covered blinds to hunt from.

Applications are now open, with the deadline to apply on Nov. 16. For an application or more information, call Roger Schrader at 330-263-6432.
