Jim Tressel to speak in New Philadelphia Nov. 14

The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Tuscarawas County will host An Evening with Jim Tressel on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Rustic Ridge Wedding Barn.
Tressel, who recently retired as the president of Youngstown State University, is a former head football coach at Ohio State and Youngstown State. He will speak about his time at OSU and YSU.
Tickets for the event are $25 each and include dinner. Reservations are required by Nov. 7 and can be made at tuscarawas.alumni.osu.edu/ by scrolling down to Upcoming Events and clicking An Evening with Jim Tressel. Payment can be made at the door. A cash bar will be available.
The event also will feature a silent auction and raffle benefiting scholarships for Tuscarawas County students attending the Ohio State University.
Attendees also are encouraged to participate in the annual Can the Wolverines event by bringing donations of canned goods, personal hygiene items or cash for local food banks. Each person who participates in Can the Wolverines will have his/her name entered into a special drawing.
“We are so excited to provide an opportunity to have people from our area to meet and hear from Jim Tressel,” said Martha Campbell, president of the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Tuscarawas County. “Jim is well-respected by his former players and others across the nation for teaching, coaching, leadership and commitment to serving others. I am humbled and honored that he agreed to come to Tuscarawas County to speak.”
