Keim will postpone the anniversary and customer-appreciation event previously scheduled for April 1-4 in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the community.

Since March 16, thirty-seven people have contracted the virus in Ohio. “We don’t want to incite fear,” said Jim Smucker, Keim’s president. “But as a company we’re committed to looking out for the well-being of our employees, customers and community.”

In response the store has postponed the celebration, sausage and pancake breakfast, and prizes. After the Ohio Department of Health said COVID-19 does not pose a large public-health risk in Ohio, Keim hopes to reschedule the celebration.

In the meantime Keim will honor sales pricing that was advertised for April 1-4. Customers who make purchases during this time are eligible for a prize drawing during the rescheduled celebration. However, customers are responsible to keep receipts and submit them during the rescheduled celebration.

Keim takes employee and customer health seriously. It is committed to enhancing its health and cleaning practices by disinfecting shopping carts, cash registers, workstations and handrails. Additionally employees are adopting even higher standards of hygiene and safety including safe ways to greet customers.

The store, located on state Route 557 in Charm, will remain open during regular hours, and Keim asks everyone do their part to help with this situation. Customers should take precautions and be responsible for their own health and not come if they are sick or worried about getting sick.

Since 1911 Keim has been built on trust among its employees, customers and vendors. “Moving forward, we’ll continue to build and maintain that trust in every way we can,” Smucker said.
