Lions Theatre welcomes Sonny and Cher tribute show
Sonny and Cher stars Cleveland native actress and singer Alyssa Whiddon as Cher Bono and veteran actor/singer Mark Adkins as Sonny Bono.
Starlight Entertainment will present a Sonny and Cher tribute show at the Lions Lincoln Theatre in Massillon on Saturday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Seats are $30 for VIP, $25 for floor, and $20 for balcony and wheelchair/companion seating. All seats are reserved and can be purchased online at www.lionslincolntheatre.org or by calling 330-481-9105. The remaining tickets may be purchased at the box office one hour before showtime.
Join Sonny and Cher and all their guest stars of yesteryear for an evening of comedy and music. A tribute to the famed ‘60s and ‘70s superstar duo, comedy skits, hit songs and a full live band highlight this show.
Cleveland native, actress and singer Alyssa Whiddon stars as Cher Bono and veteran actor/singer Mark Adkins as Sonny Bono. Supporting cast members playing various guest star parts are Kathy Lewis as Ruth Buzzi and others and Mr. Rufus Malone as Sammy Davis, Jr. and others. The full band includes musicians in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area. The Sonny and Cher band consists of Steve Dallas on keyboards, Mick Shaull on drums, Steve Miller on guitar, George Lee on bass and Brian Harrison on horns.
Sonny and Cher Bono starred in a ’70’s TV comedy/variety show — their hit songs featured prominently on the show as they would often sing and perform them between short skits with other major guest stars of the ‘70s era. The show was a Top 20 hit in the ratings for its entire run. Each episode would open with the show’s theme song, which would segue into the first few notes of “The Beat Goes On.”
Every episode Sonny Bono would exchange banter with Cher, allowing Cher to put down Sonny in a sarcastic yet comic manner. Comedy skits would follow, mixed in with musical numbers. At the end of each episode, Sonny and Cher would sing “I Got You Babe” to the audience.
