September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
Come to the library and see all the materials and services that are available to be used for free. Everyone who gets a new library card in September will receive a gift. If you’re already a library card holder, you can complete the word search puzzle about library services and sign up for the prize drawing, and the library will give away a selection of prize baskets.
Friends of the Library Sidewalk Book Sale
Stop by the book sale on Saturday, Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friends of the Library meeting
Michelle Buckley will present the program Trash to Treasures on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. The meeting is open to all.
Learn to use the
Perrysville Branch Kiosk
Visit the 24-hour library kiosk in Perrysville to sign up for a library card and learn how to use the kiosk on Tuesdays, Sept. 5, 12 and 19 from 11 a.m. to noon; Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10-11 a.m. Because September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, anyone who comes to the kiosk during these visits will receive a gift. The kiosk is accessible from the parking lot of the Perrysville Fire Station. Scheduled times will be canceled during inclement weather or if the library is closed.
After-school movie
Children and teens can watch a movie after school on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 3:30 p.m. The library also will have snacks each month. Come watch “Rise of Gru” (PG) and have snow cones.
Story time
Story time will be Tuesdays, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 10 a.m. for age 2-5 with stories, songs, fingerplays and weekly crafts. Caregivers need to be present, and younger siblings of participants are encouraged to attend as well.
Nailed It! — Minion
Cupcake
Students in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to join for the library edition of this popular Netflix show on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Teens will work in teams to recreate Pinterest-worthy creations. The library will provide the supplies. The event is limited to 12 spots. Sign-up is required.
After-school bingo
Children and teens will compete against each other in bingo on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. The library will give away two prizes each month.
Pinterest Power — Paper Flower Wreath
Adults will make a fall-colored paper flower grapevine wreath on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. or Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m. Sign-up is required, with each session limited to 12 adults. A sample will be on display in the library and posted on its Facebook page.
Madden tournament
Students in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to play in a single-elimination tournament on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 3:30-5 p.m. Snacks and prizes for the winning team will be provided. The event is limited to four teams of two. Sign-up is required.
Adult book discussion
The discussion will take place Friday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. in the Golden Center. This month’s book is “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah. Attendees can pick up a book at the circulation desk a month prior to the discussion date. New members are always welcome.
Perler Bead Club
The club for students in first grade through eighth grade will meet Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Each month there will be new designs. The event is limited to 12 spots. Sign-up is required.
Treat Yourself: Fall Edition
Students in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to make fall-scented sensory dough and take part in the library’s seasonal apple tasting on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The event is limited to 12 spots. Sign-up is required.
Glow Party
Students in first grade through eighth grade are invited to join the library for games, art, music and snacks in the library’s lower level on Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Attendees should dress to glow, wearing neon, white or glow-in-the-dark clothes. Sign-up is required. The event is limited to 20 spots.
Superhero Showdown
Students in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to create comic-inspired buttons while having snacks and will get some DC/Marvel trivia on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The event is limited to 12 spots. Sign-up is required.
Nerf Night
Students in fourth grade through eighth grade are invited to attend the library’s after-hours Nerf Night. Sign-up and permission slips are required. Attendees are responsible for their own Nerf gear.
