Individuals living with memory loss and their caregivers are invited to socialize and have fun with others experiencing similar circumstances during Memory Café programs at the Tuscarawas County Main Library.

Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to speakers, participate in activities and build relationships during these monthly programs that meet the third Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m.

Program topics for this fall include the following:

—Sept. 18: Learn about the history of Tuscarawas County.

—Oct. 16: Celebrate the spooky season with games, food and more.

—Nov. 20: Classic holiday traditions including letters to Santa.

In addition to the Memory Café programs, the county library has memory kits to check out. Memory kits are bundles of library materials containing books, puzzles, movies, music, smelling jars and other sensory activities centered around a theme. The library currently has 12 memory kits. Memory kit topics include fishing, sewing, travel, birds, pets, trains, sports, gardening, classic cars, classic Hollywood, school days and baking.

“These kits are useful for individuals, caregivers and activity directors to use with those who have memory loss,” adult and teen services manager Robyn Guedel said. “They are also fun for those who simply want to spend time reminiscing with a family or a group.”
